The sealing question of screw conveyor bearing

    The sealing property of screw conveyor is an important question: if the sealing effect of bearing and bearing seat is not good, the powder will often leak along the shaft and then enter the bearing seat inside, which will make the bearing be damaged and repaired frequently. And then affect the stable running of this equipment. So trying to solve the bearing sealing question of screw conveyor is the key to reduce workload and improve stable running efficiency of it.

     The screw conveyor is composed of a screw shaft with screw blade, material barrel, bearing device and so on. As the importance of tightness, we adopt double oil seal for sealing between the screw shaft and bearing. The left oil seal prevents the fine powder from entering the bearing seat, and the right oil seal prevents the bearing’s grease from entering the material barrel along the shaft to pollute the material.
      The oil seal is also called rotary lip seal ring. In the free state, the oil seal’s inner diameter is smaller than the shaft diameter, namely it has certain surplus amount. After the oil seal installed on the shaft, its edge pressure and self-tightening spring’s contraction force will cause certain radial holding force and intercept the leak clearance and then get the sealing purpose. The higher the rotating speed of rotary shaft and the bigger the friction between the oil seal and shaft are, the higher the temperature rise will be while the shorter the oil seal life will be. The design point is to ensure the coaxial degree of oil seal seat hole and rotary shaft and the surplus amount requirement of that the oil seal lip edge to the rotary shaft. But in the actual running of this equipment, it is still common that the bearing is damaged by the entering of the powder because of the invalid oil seal.
